 About DiscoverLibrary
DiscoverLibrary is a new search and discovery tool for the library's vast collection of resources. A simple search box will bring back results from a number of different sources, including Acorn, the library's catalog, and the Vanderbilt TV News Archive. Additionally, many of the library's online article databases are searchable through DiscoverLibrary on the second tab.
The development of DiscoverLibrary is an ongoing process. Over time we will add new resources and features, as well as refine the user interface. Please help us make the new service better by leaving your suggestions and comments in the box to the right. |
 The Mission of the Office of the Dean of Students
The Office of the Dean of Students serves a central role in student learning and development at Vanderbilt, advancing the University's mission of teaching, research, and service by fostering academic and social networks through which students develop as intentional learners and global citizens. The Office of the Dean of Students creates opportunities to involve students, faculty and staff in diverse learning communities and provides a critical support structure for enriching the overall student experience. We achieve these ends through strategic alignment, both internally and in concert with other university departments. |
 Vanderbilt Outdoor Sculpture Tour
Over the years, public art work has been collected throughout the grounds of Vanderbilt. Several of the oldest works commemorate members of the Vanderbilt family. An informality has guided the placement of most of the smaller sculptures in keeping with the meandering flow of the campus open spaces and the plantings. |
 Vanderbilt expands financial aid to offer greater access
NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Vanderbilt University's seven-year initiative to reduce students' education-related debt will take a bold step forward in fall 2009 when the university replaces all need-based student loans with Vanderbilt grant and scholarship assistance while continuing to fully meet the demonstrated need of its undergraduates.
Funded through a combination of strategic budget allocations and Vanderbilt's Shape the Future fund-raising campaign, the initiative -- designed to increase access to a Vanderbilt education across all income levels -- has already reduced the average overall indebtedness of graduating seniors by 17 percent.

Service-learning combines SERVICE with LEARNING in intentional ways. The National Service-Learning Clearinghouse defines Service-Learning as "a teaching and learning strategy that integrates meaningful community service with instruction and reflection to enrich the learning experience, teach civic responsibility, and strengthen communities." The purpose of this strategy is to change both the recipient and the provider of the service. The latter--students engaged in Service-Learning efforts--are changed through action and self-reflection, as they gain values, skills and knowledge. |

| Community Giving Campaign: Make an impact on the environment |

Contributions to the campaign may be given to Community Shares of Tennessee, which together with the Vanderbilt Center for Health Services, is working for a cleaner environment. The Center for Health Services has helped over
