Overview
Coppin State University, a fully accredited institution and member of the University System of Maryland, is accepting applications for an Accounting Clerk III. Founded in 1900, Coppin is a model urban, residential liberal arts university located in the northwest section of the City of Baltimore that provides academic programs in the arts and sciences, teacher education, nursing, graduate studies, and continuing education. Coppin offers 53 majors, and twelve graduate degree programs. Nearly 4,000 students are enrolled in day, evening, on-line, and weekend undergraduate and graduate courses.
Job Summary
Under general supervision, performs complex accounting clerical or bookkeeping tasks to support the Nursing center.
Responsibilities
Accounts payable/ receivable, payroll, timekeeping, auditing, cashiering, grant accounting.
Post journal entries.
Process payments or deposits.
Verifies accuracy of data.
May lead and train other personnel.
Qualifications
Education
High school diploma.
Experience
Three years accounting clerical experience.
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Access.
CPT 3 coding a plus.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
General Knowledge of bookkeeping principles.
Mathematical methods and techniques and accounting standards.
Skill in performing mathematical computations.
Skill in reviewing and processing financial documents.
Skill in reconciling financial data.
Skill in operating calculators.
Skill in manual and automated office equipment.
Skill in inputting data into Microsoft Access.
Ability to communicate effectively.
Ability to prepare records and reports.
Ability establish and maintain effective work relationships.
PeopleSoft experience preferred.
