Job Description
OttReach Science in the Parks (http://community.weber.edu/ottreach) is a six-week program in which interactive science activities are brought to children at local Ogden City parks. Staffers for this program will prepare materials, setup activities in the parks, and interact with children participating in the free program. At each park, between 50 and 200 children attend the activities, already attending for Ogden School District's free lunch program.
Education:
Applicants should have an interest in science as well as in teaching others. Understanding of scientific concepts is necessary.
Applicant majors: Physics Teaching, Elementary Education, Early Childhood Education, Elementary and Special Education Composite Teaching, Elementary/Early Childhood, Teaching (Chemistry, Earth Science Composite, Math, Physical Science Composite, or Botany), other majors in the College of Science
Preferred Qualifications:
Hiring preference will be given to those who have worked in this parks program previously or who have other experience in science education outreach.
