Position Summary:

The Center for Training and Development (CTD) is located at the Desert Vista Campus, with clinical sites located throughout the Tucson area.

We currently have a full-time regular Program Coordinator-Surgical Technology position available for the Surgical Technology Training Program.

This position performs a variety of instructional duties by assisting students in classroom, laboratory and clinical instruction of surgical technology courses. Additionally, the position provides coordination for the program including meeting accreditation and College performance requirements and procedures in the didactic, laboratory and clinical areas.

NOTE: This position is funded by the Center for Training and Development (CTD) and continuation is contingent upon renewed funding. This position may require daytime, evening, or weekend schedules.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Instruct students in surgical technology training program
Instruct student in a variety of clinical settings
Update and develop curriculum
Administer and monitor a variety of tests and assessments
Set up courses, labs, and clinical opportunities
Operate a variety of standard medical equipment and medical testing equipment
Maintain records and inventory
Participate in the development, implementation, coordination, and supervision of program goals, objectives, events, and activities
Develop and present marketing materials used for student recruitment or College programs to faculty, staff, students, businesses, agencies, local schools, and the community
Compile and review data and prepare related reports and correspondence
Respond to requests for information in an assigned program area form faculty, staff, students, businesses, agencies, local schools, and the community
Participate in developing and monitoring program budgets
Assist in grant and similar resource development
Facilitate job placement and clinical tracking
Establish, maintain, and nurture partnerships with local employers for the development of students, faculty, and program resources
Ensure compliance with policies and procedures of the Accreditation Review Council for Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting

Job Requirements
Education, Experience and Licensing:

Certification in Surgical Technology
Three of the last five years of direct surgical technology experience

Preferred:

Degree in Surgical Technology, Nursing or related field
Teaching/education experience

The successful candidate will have the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:

Principles and practices of teaching and evaluation of adult learners

Currency in changing and available surgical technologies

Basic principles of coordination, supervision, training, and record keeping

Ability to select and use training/instructional methods and procedures appropriate for the situation when learning or teaching new things

Use of computers and pertinent computer programs

Alternative learning methodologies

Current office procedures

Superior customer service principles

Leadership and mentoring principles

Clear, concise verbal and written communication

Development of positive interpersonal relationships

Program coordination and scheduling

Supervisory techniques

Event planning and coordination

Compile and analyze data and prepare a variety of reports

Prioritize work and perform multiple tasks

Job placement and internship processes

Monitoring and maintaining budgets

Interpret and apply applicable local, state, and federal laws and regulations

Policies and procedures of the Association of Surgical Technologists and the Accreditation Review Council for Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting
