General Description of Position and Summary of Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide career services to current and prospective students, alumni, and community members; including the administration and interpretation of career assessments. Present career development information to students seeking employment and promotes Career Center services to the community and other interested parties. Research, design, prepare, and deliver presentations on career development and job search topics. Assist Director of Learner Career Services with the planning, development and marketing of comprehensive career services programs and events and in developing new initiatives to assist students with the career development process. Represent Career Services at college meeting and events.
KEY JOB DUTIES:
Advises undecided students about degrees offered and career options.
Conducts career and employability skills assessments.
Develops relationships with employers.
Presents Career Readiness Information Sessions to community, students, and faculty.
Organizes job fairs, career day, and other related activities.
Provides career advising, including assisting with resumes, cover letters, job searching, interviewing skills and soft skills training for the workplace.
Provides training and coaching in basic job search skills.
Class presentations and assists with vocational planning.
Provides referrals to job development training and other resources.
Advises students with barriers to employment.
Evaluates and track attendance and assist in student retention by follow-up phone calls, e-mail, letters or individual meetings with participants.
Maintains “Job Ready Workforce” Initiative records as required. Use results to evaluate the effectiveness of the initiative and make program improvements as needed.
Complies with college policies, internal audit procedures, rules and regulations.
Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Learner Career Services.
SALARY: $12/hour. This is a part-time position with no benefits not to exceed 19 hours per week.

Required Qualifications:
Bachelor Degree with 3-5 years experience advising/coaching individuals on the career decision-making and job search process.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge and competence in the application of structural and development career theory. Experience in administering and interpreting career assessment instruments. Understanding of diverse influences in career development including culture, gender, class, environment, and age. Familiarity with local and national job trends and resources for information. The ability, knowledge, and forward thinking to determine when a student / community member requires additional professional help. Strong oral, written and presentation.
Work Environment/Work Hours:
Flexible hours M-F 8:00AM – 4:30 PM not to exceed 19 hours per week.
