General Notes Expertise in single-molecule biophysics, molecular biology, micro- or nanofabrication and microscopy are preferred.

Additional Information:

Purpose of Position Temporary research position. The incumbent will work in interdisciplinary biophysics lab to study mechanisms of genome maintenance.

Essential Functions Perform single-molecule experiments to elucidate mechanisms of DNA maintenance. Prepare research papers and grant applications related to this research. Collaborate with and train graduate and undergraduate students.

Marginal/Incidental functions Other related functions as assigned.

Required qualifications PhD in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Bioengineering, Chemistry, or related field.

Preferred Qualifications Experience in biochemical characterization of proteins, insect cell and mammalian cell protein expression, micro/nano- fabrication, microscopy, and scientific programming and statistical analysis.

The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length. This position has the option to elect the Optional Retirement Program (ORP) instead of TRS, subject to the position being 40 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
