Position Summary
The Fiscal Advanced Analyst, Business Analyst, Business Systems identifies, analyzes, develops, optimizes, modifies, plans, and implements complex business processes and systems.

Duties and Responsibilities
• Provide technical assistance in the management of the Chart of Accounts and General Ledger components of the Enterprise Resource Planning system
• Optimizes the use of the College’s business systems, including identifying, developing, modifying, planning, and implementing new business systems, projects and finance services, strategies, processes, and reports that extend across organizational lines and impact the College District
• Works with financial data and prepares a variety of reports, statements, and communications impacting employees, service providers, vendors and others
• Researches, analyzes, develops and implements technological solutions associated with he Enterprise Resource Planning (the College currently uses SunGard Higher Education Banner) and related systems
• Defines requirements for effective business process improvements
• Investigates, analyzes and resolves customer/ user issues or inquiries regarding the use of systems, software and applications specific to the business unit; analyzes and reconciles internal and external information
• Implements and maintains automated business processes
• Identifies customer reporting and data analysis needs, develops and maintains applicable documentation
• Creates, designs logic, and builds reports and exception reports using software like Crystal Reports and queries using SQL
• Works with the District Finance Office, Information Technology, and other College units; assists with scheduling and testing software and hardware upgrades, planning and managing system implementations; and other related activities
• Participates in special studies and task forces and recommends improvements to College business practices, processes, and systems
• Participates in system upgrades, patch analysis, testing, implementation and documentation
• Plan, develop, implement, and present training programs for end users


Job Requirements
• Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, finance, business administration, management information systems, or a closely related field
• Two years of practical applied experience in the field

Candidates who possess similar minimum objective qualifications are encouraged to apply and should describe in detail the work experience and education you regard as establishing the equivalency

Preference will be given to those candidates with knowledge, skills, or abilities in report writing systems and/or query tools, data or process diagrams, integrated software program development, computer systems analysis, developments and conversions.


The successful candidate will have the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:

• Enterprise Resource Planning systems, including maintaining, upgrading and operating (the College currently uses SunGard Higher Education Banner)

• Automated financial systems and other computer applications

• Database and process analysis principles

• Practices of accounting and bank reconciliation

• Customer service principles, providing excellent customer service to customers at all levels

• Information security

• Researching, communicating and analyzing complex issues and developing solutions associated with business processes

• Creating, revising, utilizing, and managing databases

• Mapping business requirements to software applications

• Reading, understanding, preparing and reviewing complex technical documents and analysis

• Analyzing, evaluating, planning, and developing improvements in business systems, operations, procedures, policies or processes

• Planning and conducting meetings

• Effectively communicating technical or complex information to a non-technical audience in English, both orally and in writing

• Troubleshooting, identifying, and implementing technological solutions, involving computer software and hardware, to automate and streamline complex business processes and work flows

• Establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with a broad rand of diverse constituents including College community, students, and the public

• Managing change

• Handling sensitive topics and data
