MANAGER, COLLEGE STORE
Full-Time, 12-Month Position, VSC Grade 13, UP SUP Bargaining Unit Position
BASIC FUNCTION: To manage and supervise all operations of the College Store.
CHARACTERISTICS DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Plan, implement, supervise, coordinate, monitor, and evaluate all Store operations, including operating policies and procedures. Develop and modify services and operating systems in accordance with defined institutional needs and objectives.
Prepare annual budget projections and manage the operating budget to maximize revenues.
Oversee textbook operations, including ordering, returns, pricing, shelving, and liaison with faculty.
Supervise merchandise selection and ordering, checking in, pricing, stocking, shelving, and returns.
Order and distribute regalia for trustees, faculty and students.
Oversee store inventories, and the preparation of inventory reports.
Plan and administer appropriate record systems related to all bookstore operations.
Exercise supervisory authority over staff members as well as student assistants. Plan and conduct training programs and staff meetings.
Assist students and other store patrons in locating items, ordering special items, processing returns, and so forth.
Attend trade shows and keep abreast of current developments in college store operations.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelors degree in business, accounting or other appropriate discipline, plus four to six years of relevant retail experience, preferably in a college bookstore, or a combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills are acquired.
Good general understanding of college bookstore operations.
Broad base of retailing knowledge and skills, with on-line retail experience preferred.
Good administrative, supervisory and budget management skills; bookkeeping/accounting training or experience.
Good customer relation skills; ability to deal effectively with a wide variety of students, faculty and staff, as well as other store clientele, and various outside vendors and organizations.
SALARY: Within the VSC Grade 13 salary range, plus excellent benefit package.
