Position Function The National Strategic Planning & Analysis Research Center (nSPARC) at Mississippi State University invites applications for Postdoctoral Research Associates to begin work on August 16, 2013. The PostDoc is offered for one year (twelve months) with opportunity for renewal for an additional year, contingent upon mutual satisfaction with demonstrated progress and continued availability of funding. Postdoctoral Research Associates are non-tenure track professionals that must be in residence at nSPARC for the duration of their PostDoc and have major responsibility for scholarly research and writing, proposal preparation, and the conduct of research projects in the area early childhood learning and development especially as it is related to longitudinal data systems and education, workforce, and economic development.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Provide leadership to the early childhood research team; work in close collaboration with nSPARC executive team by providing ongoing communication, input, and feedback on progress, issues and concerns impacting early learning research; Conduct literature reviews and statistical analyses and prepare proposals and reports; Participate as a team member within a scientific group and interact with scientists from other areas in nSPARC; Travel via automobile or plane to local/regional/national meetings and to meetings with external collaborators and clients; perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications Recent earned Doctorate in Educational Psychology, Sociology, Demography, or related social science discipline (all requirements for the PhD must be fulfilled by August 2013); Demonstrated experience and knowledge of survey and research methods and statistical analyses; Background and interest in a relevant area.
Will ABD's (all but dissertation) be considered? Not Applicable
Preferred Qualifications Earned Doctorate in Educational Psychology and research/applied experience in research methodology and statistics; experience with survey design; prior experience on extramural research projects; research interests that complement those of nSPARC.
