Basic Function Determines financial aid award packages, award aid, recalculate and adjust aid or delete federal, state and/or institutional aid for students based upon initial eligibility as well as changes in information. Analyze and process a large volume of student financial aid records for various federal and state programs. Provides direct counseling and management of financial aid services via in-person or electronic requests by students/families. Participates in outreach and early awareness activities.
Contract Length 12 month
Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities Counsel students, parents, University departments, and outside agencies on the federal, state, and Institutional financial aid application process.
Conduct presentations to clarify federal, state, and University regulations regarding the financial aid process.
Evaluate and determine appropriate action for invalid or incomplete student financial aid applications.
Determine award packages; award aid; recalculate and adjust aid; delete federal, state, and/or Institutional aid.
Oversee various financial aid programs (e.g. direct loans, minority benefits, scholarship coordination, grant processing, University scholarships, special circumstances, federal work study, etc.
Perform related duties as assigned.
Leadership and Supervision May supervise students and/or provide functional guidance of support staff or other employees who work on a project or assignment on a temporary or intermittent basis.
Education and Experience

Abilities Bachelor's degree in a relevant field. Master's degree preferred. Three months to one year of experience in student financial aid, customer service, or a relevant field. Knowledge of computer applications. Skill in written and interpersonal communication. Prefer bi-lingual candidate (Spanish speaking) who has experience working with Hispanic/Latino community.

Work Schedule Monday-Friday 8:00AM-5:00PM, including some nights and weekends.
Salary Base 29,808 - 37,241
Physical Requirements Light work - exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Typically requires sitting, walking, standing, bending, keying, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.
Incumbent may be required to travel from building to building frequently and off campus occasionally.
