Applications are invited for a post-doctoral fellow position within the Bio-Protection Research Centre (BPRC), a Government funded Centre of Research Excellence hosted at Lincoln University. The BPRC has a full-time position available for three years for an experienced and enthusiastic person to work on the genetics of microbial pathogens of insects, especially fungal pathogens.
The Postdoctoral Fellow will undertake research in the team led by Professor Travis Glare, looking at how fungal pathogens such as Beauveria spp. can be both directly infective to insects and occur as endophytes in plants. The Postdoctoral position will also be involved in assisting with PhD supervision on other projects involving insect pathogenic microorganisms. The Insect Pathogens Research Group has strong national and international linkages and an excellent publication record in the area of bioprotection.
Applicants will be required to have:
A PhD in microbiology or molecular biology
Research experience in fungal genetics and preferably entomopathogenic fungi
A good record of peer reviewed publications
Ability to supervise technical staff and students
Good computer/bioinformatic skills.
Ability to design trials and analyse data
The successful candidate will join an active and dynamic bioprotection research group and have a minimum of two years post PhD research experience.
