Position Information Job Description Title Compensation Analyst Working Title Position Number 995991 Home Organization Compensation - Kent Campus (100444) Campus Kent Job Open Date 09-17-2013 Job Close Date (1 week, 2 weeks, etc?) 10-01-2013 Pay Grade 4 Basic Function To assist with the development, implementation, and administration of compensation and related programs for administrative, professional, and hourly civil service positions. Reports to Sr. Manager, Compensation. Contract Length 12 month Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities Analyze and evaluate position and salary information to determine appropriate classification, title, and/or pay grade; conduct interviews and job audits; prepare written reports and recommendations. Conduct and participate in salary surveys (design and administer instruments, and compile, analyze, and report salary data). Write and update job descriptions and classification specifications; maintain current position information. Develop and prepare compensation unit reports and analyses (e.g. benchmark comparisons, pay plan reports, personnel actions, etc.). Assist in the design, modification, implementation, and maintenance of civil service, bargaining unit, and administrative/professional compensation plans to include associated salary schedules, job evaluation instruments, policies, procedures, etc. Research and analyze compensation and related personnel issues; keep abreast of current compensation trends, laws, regulations, etc. Respond to compensation inquiries and concerns. Review, approve, monitor, and take action upon a variety of personnel transactions (e.g., appointments, status changes, wage increases, etc.). Initiate paperwork as necessary. May supervise students and/or provide functional guidance of support staff or other employees who work on a project or assignment on a temporary or intermittent basis. Perform related duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Education and Experience Other Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in Human Resource Management, Business Management, or relevant field; three months to one year experience in compensation or related area. Knowledge Of: Human resources management practices with a particular emphasis on compensation. Federal, state, and other relevant statutory regulations. Desktop office computing applications. Skill In: Written and interpersonal communication Paying attention to detail and accuracy Performing basic data analysis Maintaining strict confidentiality and data integrity Performing work under a strict deadline Ability To: Gather, analyze and organize data using a logical and systematic process Determine relevant and irrelevant data when conducting analytical work Visualize and articulate problems and concepts in a systematic manner Recognize patterns and issues in sets of data Work independently and as part of a team Additional Information (Unique characteristics or needs of the position) Please attach cover letter, resume and contact information for three (3) professional references. Typically requires sitting, walking, standing, bending, keying, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions. Incumbent may be required to travel from building to building frequently and off campus occasionally.
