No Position Type: Faculty Campus: Hattiesburg Department: Educational Leadership and School Counseling Pay Grade Level: N/A Job Summary: The University of Southern Mississippi invites applicants for a full-time position as an Assistant Professor, School Counseling in the Educational Leadership and School Counseling Department. The successful candidate will primarily teach graduate level courses, supervise interns, and advise students in the School Counseling and Guidance Services program. This is a 9-month, tenure-track faculty position (August- May) with the likelihood of summer employment opportunities. The anticipated starting date is August 18, 2014; A summer teaching appointment may be available. To ensure full consideration, applications must be received no later than November 1, 2013; however, applications will continue to be accepted until position is filled. Duties and Responsibilities: The successful candidate will be expected to teach, mentor, and advise graduate students in the School Counseling and Guidance Services program; supervise clinical and field experiences; deliver courses in traditional and nontraditional formats; conduct, present, and publish scholarly research related to school counseling; serve on dissertation committees where appropriate; participate in program, department, and university service; and secure internal and external funding. Minimum Qualifications: Applicants must have an earned doctorate in School Counseling or Counselor Education; or an earned doctorate in a related field with a cognate/concentration in school counseling by the time of employment. Applicants must meet Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) requirements; e.g., a minimum of 18 graduate hours in their teaching discipline. Applicants must demonstrate an ability to engage in effective teaching and research in the field of school counseling; and an ability to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds. Preferred Qualifications: Preference will be given to applicants with experience working in a P12 system as a school counselor; and demonstrated ability to secure external funding.
