The Department of Teacher Education in the College of Arts and Sciences at Clayton State University is seeking applicants for the position of Assistant Professor of Education with specialty in Special Education. This is a nine-month, tenure-track position. The successful candidate will meet the following criteria:
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE POSITION:
Earned doctorate in Education, or ABD candidates with a firm dissertation defense date
Expertise and graduate degree in Special Education
Three years of full-time teaching experience in middle, secondary, or special education school classrooms
Successful undergraduate and graduate college teaching experiences
Ability to teach a wide range of education courses for candidates concentrating In middle, secondary, and special education
Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE POSITION:
Successful experience in working with diverse populations
Experience with integrating instructional technologies in teaching, including implementing online courses
Experience in supervising intern teachers
Substantial graduate coursework and experience in fields relating to assessment such as educational and psychological measurements, group and individual achievement testing, action research, qualitative and quantitative research design, and evaluation
Knowledge of NCATE and state accreditation standards and procedures
Successful involvement with university-public school partnerships
Evidence of scholarly potential, including presentations and publications.
Teach introductory, general, and special education courses; 4/4 teaching load.
Participate in developing education curricula
Serve as advisor to education majors
Participate in university-public school partnership activities
Engage in scholarly activity leading to grants, presentations, and publications
Participate in service to the department, college, university, and partnership school systems
Supervise field experiences and student teachers
This is a tenure-track appointment that reports to the Head of the Department of Teacher Education. The position will be available in January 2014. Salary will be commensurate with experience and competitive with comparable programs. In compliance with the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986, proof of authorization to work in the U.S. will be required at the time of hire.
