This employee will also work with the office manager, other counselors, and with the intern. In addition, this individual will monitor, tutor, teach and evaluate learning strategies that aid any students in their studies at the University. This individual will also facilitate the use of the Special Needs Testing Room and the Testing Center distraction free room for testing accommodations. He/she will organize the books, materials, and equipment in the Group Therapy/ Special Needs room. The employee will assist in conducting groups, workshops, seminars and one to one activities to present and evaluate the achievement and learning of specific cognitive strategies that will enhance the student¿s ability to study effectively. He/she will be a case manager for individual students with special needs. Qualifications and Experience Must have a Bachelor's degree in the following areas: Social Work, Psychology, Special Education and other related fields.Must be a graduate of Brigham Young University Hawaii Skill Set: Good Communication skills, verbal skills and written skills Understand the use of Assistive Technology/Computer skills Know how to manage their time and have good organizational skills Proficient in computer/research skills, excel, photo shop, power point and prezi presentations Good customer service and phone skills Understand confidentiality Work Schedule 30 hours a week Monday thru Friday Major Accountabilities Works closely with Coordinator Services for Students with Special Needs regarding individual students that are eligible for special need services Manages and organizes files and caseloads accurately and on a timely manner Collaborates with special need students, their parents/guardians, colleagues, faculty and different departments on campus to ensure student effectiveness. Sends out letters of accommodation (letters are written by the Coordinator Services for Students with Special Needs) in a timely fashion Manages caseload of special need students and assist in monitoring interns who have special need caseloads Monitors special needs equipment/software and special needs website Disclaimer This job description may not comprise all duties that may be required to be performed.
