Reporting to the Associate and Assistant Deans of Graduate Programs, the Sr Instructional Designer is responsible for providing expert assistance to CCIS faculty in the design and delivery of high quality and effective online technology-mediated teaching and learning initiatives. S/he will also work with other instructional designers and faculty to implement online best practices.
This position will be responsible for working with faculty to create individual courses that will be delivered by multiple faculty that result in high quality, consistent student learning experiences and outcomes. The Sr Instructional Designer will work independently and collaboratively to assure CCIS online courses maintain the highest technological and pedagogical standards. The successful candidate will work directly with faculty and administration to design and develop online graduate courses that exemplify evidence-based learning, i.e. application of cognitive science and experiential learning principles.
This job involves supporting the design and development of effective online and hybrid-learning experiences with a focus on mirroring the rich learning environment provided by a Northeastern, experiential education. (S)he will manage the instructional design process in order to ensure timely completion of course design projects, course revisions, while maintaining a high quality end product. Responsibilities also include communicating with other instructional designers, management, staff and faculty, and providing ongoing support and evaluation of faculty and courses. The individual must be able to work with faculty to create online courses that: can be taught by multiple faculty; ensure a consistent student experience across multiple sections; that result in successful student outcomes.(S)he should be knowledgeable in learning science and have experience developing online courses that are founded on sound learning research. (S)he should also maintain a personal learning network that contributes to ongoing professional development related to instructional design and distance learning and demonstrate comfort and confidence in helping to design courses that reflect the distinct mission and core values of Northeastern University
