Job Description:

Assistant, Associate Professor at the University of Florida. The Department of Medicine is seeking applications for a full-time clinical investigator track position for the Division of Hematology/Oncology at the Assistant or Associate Professor level. The ideal candidate will be expected to establish an independent, nationally and internationally recognized extramurally funded research program in one or more areas of molecular and cellular biology with a focus on hematology and hematological malignancies. Additionally, it will be expected that the candidate will engage in scholarly activities related to instruction, including teaching undergraduate and/or graduate courses, advising and mentoring undergraduate and graduate students, participating in curriculum revision and enhancement, and engaging in professional development activities related to teaching and advising. The successful candidate will have the opportunity and will be expected to collaborate in a variety of activities including subspecialty and multidisciplinary clinic at the UF Health main campus, cancer case and research conferences, and clinical trials.

The UF Division of Hematology and Oncology is aligned with, and our faculty are members of, the UF Health Cancer Center, providing a collaborative an innovative research environment, novel clinical research, innovative treatments, and compassionate care for individuals facing all types of cancer and hematologic diseases. The UF Department of Medicine is a national leader in cancer. The University of Florida, a member of the AAU, is the largest and most comprehensive public university in the State of Florida, with large undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate educational programs.  The UF Health Science Center and its six colleges are co-located on the Gainesville campus, with additional teaching, research, and patient care sites in Jacksonville, Orlando, other sites across Florida, and internationally. 

Resources available for professional development at the University of Florida Health Sciences Center include leadership, education, and research training through support from the UF Health Cancer Center, Clinical Translational Science Institute (CTSI), formal mentorship programs, and supported opportunities for teaching and research.  Clinical research support is provided by the UF Health Cancer Center Clinical Research Office. Requisite attributes include a commitment to service, good verbal and written communication skills, a strong sense of teamwork and a desire to train tomorrow’s doctors.

The Gainesville area has superb weather, inexpensive cost-of-living, nationally ranked public schools, and multiple year-round indoor and outdoor recreational opportunities.

Tenure accruing and non-tenure accruing tracks are available. Rank and tenure status will be commensurate with qualifications.

Expected Salary:

Salary is negotiable, commensurate with education and experience.

Minimum Requirements:

Applicants should have a PhD (or equivalent) degree or combined degrees (DVM/PhD or MD/PhD) and advanced training, including postdoctoral research experience, in the relevant discipline(s).
