The Program Director provides overall direction, coordination, and success?of YMCA Pool operations. Enthusiastic applicants serve as a YMCA ambassador to provide members and staff a great experience.   • Work a schedule that aligns to guest and business needs (this includes early morning, evening, overnight shifts and weekends).

  • All other duties based on business needs

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Provide leadership in the delivery of quality within the YMCA aquatic department.
  • Monitor all programs and staff in the pool assigned.
  • Ensure program quality and monitor staff performance and member service.
  • Develop relationships with members and obtain regular feedback on programs.
  • Recommend program enhancements to ensure that member needs are being met.
  • Ensure the swimming facility is meeting or exceeding the Aquatic Safety Standards.
  • Facilitate monthly in-service meetings that include skill review.
  • Supervise staff and ensure appropriate staffing of pool. Coordinate breaks and rotate staff.
  • Develop high quality aquatics programs, including swim lessons and water fitness that meet the needs of the community.
  • Ensure quality program delivery by certified staff and effective use of resources including staffing.
  • Ensure safety and prevent injuries by supervising pool area. Ensure no distraction or interference with the ability to hear or see signs of distress.
  • Maintain accurate records, certification binder, pool logs.
  • Administer first aid to victims using OSHA?Bloodborne?Pathogens Universal Precautions. Provide immediate care to sustain life until Emergency Medical Service arrives.
  • Maintain current certifications. Maintain physical fitness. Perform endurance swims, rescue procedures upon request.
  • Lead the aquatics staff team in providing a safe and enjoyable environment. Respect others by arriving on time and in accordance with schedule.
  • Communicate all pool rules and ensure that you are accessible and identifiable.
  • Maintain pool logs, incident/accident reports, locker room checks and other documents as required.
  • Perform pool maintenance duties in accordance with OSHA Hazardous Materials Precautions. Perform water quality testing.
  • May be required to pursue POOL Operator or CPO certification and backwash pool filtration system and monitor pool chemicals
  • May be required to pursue PA Department of Agriculture Category 24 Pesticide Applicator or Technician certification.

ROLE SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelors Graduate or Equivalent
  • 2+?years experience?in fitness, retail,?recreation management?or hospitality industries
  • 2+?years experience?managing 50+ team members
  • 2+?years experience?managing Profit and Loss (P&L) statements/revenue/EBITDA budgets
  • Experience providing high-end member service and managing member concerns
  • Track record of success in a performance driven work environment
  • 21?years?of?age?with?bachelor’s?degree.?Current?ARC?Lifeguard/Water Park,?CPR/AED?for?Professional?Rescuer,?First?Aid?and Administering Emergency Oxygen?certifications?and?YMCA Swim?Lesson Instructor v6 Trainers?or?ARC Lifeguard?Instructor?certification?with?2?years?of?related experience.
  • Ability?to?use?water?quality test kit.
  • Exhibit?strong?leadership?skills;?possess?a?passion?for?member?service,?building?and?maintaining?a?culture?of member?service?excellence

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to express or exchange ideas by means of spoken word to impart oral information and to convey detailed, spoken instructions to staff, members, children, and volunteers accurately, quickly, and loudly. Ability to perceive the nature of sounds by ear; ability to lift and carry 50-75 pounds; ability to maintain body equilibrium to prevent falling. Ability to move about on foot quickly; ability to stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl. Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time. Ability to judge distances and spatial relationships so as to see objects where they actually are and clearly see at 20 inches or less and 20 feet or more.

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
Exposure to high levels of noise and various environmental conditions.

Acquire and maintain the following certifications:

  • CPR/AED/O2?(annually),?First?Aid?& Lifeguarding?(valid?2?years)?obtained through the American Red Cross
  • Requisite?OSHA?online?trainings?(valid?1?year?unless?otherwise?noted)
  • Mandated Reporter Training?(valid?5?years)
  • Additional training and development specific to your role as reference in onboarding packet.
