As a Nuclear Effects Research Associate...

  • Your primary responsibility will be to understand the response of a system to a nuclear event and develop appropriate solutions that mitigate undesired effects
  • You will run third party software in a Linux and/or Windows environment
  • You will execute modeling and simulation tasks
  • You will work closely with a technical team to achieve results
  • You will produce data and then perform an analysis of that data
  • You will analyze third party results
  • You will work on some high-level modeling
  • You will present work and results to other technical staff and management
  • You will develop and plan projects

You meet our minimum qualifications for the job if you...

  • Possess an MS in Physics, Chemistry, Chemical Physics, Nuclear Engineering, Thermal Mechanical Engineering, or related field
  • Have 1-3 years of related professional experience
  • Are familiar with working in a Linux environment
  • Have experience with command line programming
  • Have familiarity with MATLAB and/or other coding platforms
  • Possess a strong attention to detail
  • Have demonstrated written and verbal communication skills
  • Have knowledge of nuclear physics, particle physics, or solar physics
  • Have a strong mathematical and statistical background
  • Have the ability to obtain an Interim Secret security clearance and ultimately a Secret level clearance. Applicant selected will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship
  • Can demonstrate that you are fully vaccinated against COVID-19. You'll go above and beyond our minimum requirements if you...

  • Possess a PhD in Physics, Chemistry, Chemical Physics, Nuclear Engineering, or related field
  • Are familiar with, and have experience programming with, Fortran
  • Have a deep knowledge of nuclear physics
  • Have experience with transport problems in atmosphere or within structures
  • Have experience building third-party programs
  • Have experience with GEANT4, MCNP, ENDF, NJOY, DIORAMA, or similar code
  • Have the ability to obtain a Top Secret security clearance
