Position Summary Primarily responsible for the teaching/learning process and will also participate in the necessary operations of the institution.

Posting Text: The Tarleton nursing program is an innovative multiple-entry baccalaureate program that is fully accredited by the Texas Board of Nursing and by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). Construction will be completed on the $24.3M nursing building by December 2010. The new building will house state-of-the-art nursing skills laboratories with a high fidelity simulation center, classrooms, faculty and staff offices and research space. To further efforts to prepare nurses for a rapidly changing and complex health care environment and produce more qualified Nursing faculty, we plan to offer a new MSN program to prepare Nurse Administrators and Nurse Educators beginning in 2012.

Required Education/Experience/Skills (Minimum Qualifications) Master of Science Degree in Nursing from a school approved by the University and recognized by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.Eligibility for current R.N. Licensure in Texas.
Tenure-track faculty members in the rank of assistant professor shall hold the earned doctorate or other terminal degree approved by the University or be actively working towards completion of such degree and recognized by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools as appropriate to the academic area they serve.. In addition, they shall have demonstrated ability in the discipline and show clear promise of teaching excellence as evidenced in evaluation by peers, department head, and college dean; demonstrate continuing scholarly contribution beyond that required for completion of the terminal degree; and document yearly progress of professional achievement in teaching, scholarship, and service. Teachers of record must possess minimum Southern Association of Colleges and Schools credential standards which normally include a Master's degree with 18 graduate semester credit hours in the subject area or suitable approved justification.
Preferred education/experience/skills (additional qualifications): Graduate preparation in the area of medical-surgical, gerontology, adult health, or critical care nursing, national certification in a specialty area, teaching experience at the baccalaureate or higher degree level and curriculum development or evaluation.
Work Hours Typically Monday through Friday with early morning travel to clinical agencies or off campus sites. May be required to teach evening courses or clinical in some semesters and occasionally participate in universities activities in the evening or on weekends.
