GENERAL DEFINITION:
Under direction of the Financial Aid Director, this position is responsible for federal, state and institutional, financial aid programs. The position assists in the management and coordination of the daily operation of SCC’s 52 million dollar financial aid programs e.g. four federal aid programs: Pell, SEOG, Ford Direct Student Loans, and Federal Work Study; state aid programs to include: State Need Grant, Tuition Grant, Tuition Waiver, and State Work Study.
CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Supervise (recruit, select, train, schedule, respond to grievances and recommend disciplinary action) paraprofessional, clerical support and hourly employees. Adhere to the classified contracts, and all district rules and regulations to ensure efficient operations and student success.*
* Provide training to staff to ensure accurate and consistent application of federal, state, and institutional financial aid regulations, policies/procedures and use of information systems.*
* Manage financial aid application processing/review; awarding federal, state, and institutional, academic progress; and needs analysis functions for computer and manual applications.*
* Develop financial aid policies in conjunction with the Director. Review internal audit processes and conduct audits to ensure SCC is compliant with federal, state, and institutional financial aid regulations.*
* Create procedures and forms required for compliance with federal, state, and institutional, regulations.*
* Develop and maintain financial aid application processing systems and award procedures. Research/resolve national student data base match and related award problems.*
* Compile and analyze statistical data and prepare reports as required. Assist in the completion of annual operations reports, progress reports and application for funds.*
* Research and evaluate the impacts of pending federal and state financial aid rules.*
* Oversee academic progress for financial aid recipients; evaluate, approve or deny academic progress petitions; and write academic progress student contracts outlining conditions the student must meet to retain eligibility for financial aid.*
* Market financial aid opportunities/deadlines to current students by creating flyers, mail and e-mail campaigns, phone calls, etc.*
* Make presentations for high schools, organizations, agencies and CCS on financial aid.*
* Represent the college and department at meetings with organizations, the community and other agencies.*
* May act as the Financial Aid Director when assigned.
* Perform related duties as required. |
