The McIntire School of Commerce at the University of Virginia is seeking applications for one or more full-time instructor positions to teach several sections of Business Law I and II in its undergraduate program beginning fall semester 2011. The strongest candidates will have demonstrated excellence in teaching Business Law I and II. Business Law I introduces students to the American legal system, emphasizing contracts, torts, agency, corporations, and partnerships. Business Law II further exposes students to the American legal system, emphasizing debtor-creditor law, bankruptcy, product liability, and sale of goods, property, and commercial paper. Review of applications will begin March 14, 2011 and continue until the position(s) are filled. The McIntire School of Commerce awards a Bachelor of Science degree in Commerce, as well as Master of Science degrees in Commerce, Accounting, and Management of Information Technology. McIntire serves over 650 upper-level undergraduates and 300 graduate students. Undergraduate students enter the McIntire School in their third year at the University and concentrate in at least one of six fields: accounting, finance, international business, marketing, management, and information technology. McIntire graduates are actively recruited by major professional services firms (e.g., accounting firms, consulting firms, and investment banks) and Fortune 500 corporations. The School's programs have been recognized as among the best in the country in evaluations and rankings conducted by such publications as Business Week, US News and World Report, ComputerWorld, and Public Accounting Review. Candidates must have a Law Degree (J.D.). The strongest candidates will also have demonstrated excellence in teaching Business Law I and II and have had extensive experience in practicing law with a focus on business law.
