Job Description
The College of Saint Elizabeth invites applications for a position as a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Spanish and Global Studies starting in August 2011. Successful candidates will have an earned doctorate in Spanish or a related field in humanities or social science (e.g., linguistics, anthropology, geography, or history), native or near-native fluency in Spanish and English, and demonstrated teaching effectiveness. Preference will be given to candidates with the ability and desire to work on interdisciplinary teams focusing on the study of language, cultural integration, and the increasingly interdependent world. Responsibilities include teaching 24 undergraduate credits per year, advising students, participating in the shared governance of the Institution, and maintaining a scholarship agenda.
Candidates will be asked to demonstrate a commitment to excellent teaching, knowledge of current pedagogy, appropriate academic preparation, and strong recommendations.
Our program offers B.A. degrees in Spanish and in Global Studies as well as opportunities to study classic or modern cultures in languages such as Latin, French, and Italian.
