Primary Duties/Responsibilities:

Westfield State University seeks applications for an interim Vice President of Student Affairs. The Interim Vice Presidant is a member of the President's Cabinet and reports to the President and is responsible for planning, directing, and supervising all Student Affairs programs and personnel in the areas of Residential Life, Career Services, Health Services, Public Safety, Student Activities, Campus Center, Student Conduct, Veterans' Affairs, Commuter Affairs, Athletics, Counseling Center and New Student Orientation program. Minimum Qualifications:

-An earned graduate degree in a field related to student development or higher education administration from an accredited institution
-Five years of successful experience and leadership in higher education administration including budgetary responsibilities, supervision and evaluation of personnel, strategic planning, student affairs program development, and shared governance
-Demonstrated experience and commitment to quality in student affairs programs at the undergraduate level
-Knowledge of best practices in Student Affairs
-A proven record of enhancing the quality of life for students in and out of the classroom by working creatively and effectively with students
-A demonstrated commitment to diversity including accomplishment in valuing and supporting differences
-A demonstrated record of dynamic, collaborative, proactive, creative, visionary, and ethical leadership
-Strong interpersonal, communication, problem-solving, team-building, and decision-making skills
-Ability to encourage and foster a collaborative and collegial environment within the context of a collective bargaining agreement
-Ability to work collegially and effectively with members of the University and leaders in external communities
-A thorough understanding of the complexities of higher education and associated regulatory agencies
-Experience working within a state system of higher education and an appreciation for the role of public higher education
