Loyola Marymount University on Monday announced the appointment of its first lay president, an administrator and former professor who has been with the Westchester school for nearly two decades.
David W. Burcham, 59, was selected unanimously at a Monday meeting of the Board of Trustees after a nationwide search.
A Long Beach resident, Burcham has served as interim president of the Catholic university since March, when the Rev. Robert B. Lawton went on medical leave and later announced his retirement.
