Carter Catlin named research dean at Tennessee State University

Dr. Chandra Reddy, dean of the School of Agriculture and Consumer Sciences, has appointed Dr. Carter Catlin Jr. to serve as the associate dean for research. Catlin most recently served as the interim associate dean for research since 2008.
Caitlin brings with him more than 29 years of experience in higher education (25 years at Tennessee State University and four years at Alcorn State University). He was also employed as an economist with the U.S. Forest Service in Fort Collins, Col. for four years.
As associate dean, Dr. Catlin will serve as a member of the School of Agriculture and Consumer Sciences Dean’s Executive Council. Along with Reddy, he is responsible for providing leadership to the research programs that are based on the main campus and at other research stations of the School.
He will work with the Dean’s Executive Council in providing collaborative leadership for research, extension and the academic programs. Dr. Catlin will work closely with academic department chairs and the extension program leaders in enhancing and supporting graduate student research in the School.
“(Dr. Catlin) will provide creative leadership for helping to facilitate successful program integration in the School of Agriculture and Consumer Sciences by focusing on teamwork, innovation and interdisciplinary programming among TSU research, extension and academic programs,” Reddy said.
