The Faculty Senate at Missouri State University voted unanimously last week to commission a study to look at how the salary budget for faculty has changed since 2004 as compared to the overall university budget.
The resolution, proposed by chemistry professor Mark Richter, noted while the total number of positions at Missouri grew by 33 percent from 1993 to 2004, the number of ranked faculty positions went up by 5.5 percent in the same period.
Deans' offices, meanwhile, had seen bigger budgets and more positions. These offices added nearly 34 positions, or a 177 percent increase, and got a budget increase of $1.55 million, or 189 percent more.
