University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point faculty members vote to unionize

Faculty at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point voted overwhelmingly today to unionize, despite the fact the union may shortly lose the ability to collectively bargain.
By a vote of 283-15, the faculty decided to be represented by AFT-Wisconsin. But if Gov. Scott Walker’s budget repair bill, which is held up by legal challenges, becomes law, UW faculty unions will no longer be recognized by the state, meaning the state won’t be compelled to bargain with the unions.
