Fairmont State University President Thomas Krepel has resigned after less than two years in the position.
Board of Governors Chairman Rocco Muriale told The Times West Virginian that Krepel submitted his resignation Wednesday.
Muriale said it's a personnel issue. The board plans to issue a statement following an emergency meeting Monday.
Board of Governors member Janet Crescenzi told The Charleston Gazette that she had not seen the letter Krepel sent Muriale. However, she said Krepel was "having some issues" with the Fairmont State Foundation, which raises money for the school. She did not elaborate.
"Really there isn't anything that we know to talk about at this point," said Keith Foster, director of major gifts at the foundation.
