The University of California has agreed on a contract for its 6,000 or so postdoctoral researchers, likely ending negotiations that took so long they spurred a congressional hearing.
The union representing the researchers said Monday it had reached a late-night agreement with the 10-campus university over the weekend. Union members will vote on the proposal over the next two weeks, said Norval Hickman, a UC San Francisco researcher and union leader.
"We really felt that there were some good things coming, so we pushed into the night," he said. "We were able to make improvements to our wages, benefits and working conditions."
