INSTRUCTOR OF MUSIC / THEATER
10-month, tenure track position

Master’s degree in music, music education or closely related field is required. College level teaching experience in music appreciation, history and theory, and experience in directing both choral and dramatic performances at the college level is preferred. Experience in directing ensemble performances and a demonstrated ability to develop and teach new course offerings in related areas such as piano, vocal performances, and music styles is desired. A demonstrated understanding of the mission of the comprehensive community college and its diverse commuter student population is essential. RESPONSIBILITIES: Under the direction of the Humanities Department Chairperson, the successful applicant will teach courses/labs in music history, appreciation, theory and performance. S/he will provide creative leadership and direction to the musical life of the college and community including performance at college functions and liaisons with other disciplines; carry out related curriculum/course development projects; advise students; serve on college committees; maintain membership in professional organizations and develop liaisons with colleagues in the field; and undertake other community service responsibilities related to a full-time faculty position. The incumbent is expected to represent the College in a positive manner and work as a team player with colleagues in the department.
