FULL-TIME (12 MONTH) ACCOUNTING FACULTY MEMBER

Graduate School USA is accepting applications for a Full-Time Accounting Faculty Member.

The Accounting faculty member is responsible to the Dean of the Management Department. The primary responsibility is teaching the equivalent of 15 credits per semester in both face-to-face and online formats; curriculum and course development, advising students, orienting and mentoring faculty colleagues, and meeting office hours. Regular participation in department and divisional teams and on School-wide committees is required. The incumbent will serve as a subject matter expert in working with other faculty and staff in a team environment, support and contribute to diversity and student success initiatives, and remain current in assigned subject areas and teaching methodologies. The incumbent will also assume the responsibilities associated with the coordination, curriculum development, learning outcomes assessment and promotion of federal financial management courses and programs as well as assigned continuing education courses and programs. The position is a twelve-month faculty position; hence, the School’s expectation is for a flexible 5-day workweek [5 of 7 days] of forty hours. The Dean, in conjunction with the Provost, may approve exceptions to the 5-day faculty workweek.

Responsibilities:

I. EFFECTIVE TEACHING & STUDENT LEARNING: The faculty member is expected to provide an effective teaching environment whether face-to-face or online that is conducive to student learning. The classroom and coursework should contain elements that recognize and enhance components of the learning process, employ effective delivery of instructional materials, and are responsive to the personal and professional needs of students.

II. SCHOOL SERVICE: The faculty member should be engaged actively in processes that promote outstanding programs designed for student success. These areas include curriculum development, student-centered scheduling, working with employers, attracting and keeping qualified adjunct faculty, and management of resources.

III. COMMUNITY SERVICE: The faculty member is expected to engage in activities that are of value to the community and responsive to the Graduate School mission and values. Evidence of these activities may include participation in community activities and committees, being a community partner, and engagement with other educational institutions.

IV. EDUCATIONAL LEADERSHIP: The faculty is expected to participate in activities that provide professional growth and expertise. Institutional support will be given as possible for activities aligned with the Graduate School mission and goals. The faculty may demonstrate professional development through activities that maintain currency in their discipline, continuing education, contributing expertise within and outside the School, scholarly activity, and organizational memberships.

V. COORDINATION, CURRICULUM DEVELOPMENT, LEARNING OUTCOMES ASSESSMENT AND PROMOTION OF FEDERAL FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT COURSES AND ASSIGNED CONTINUING EDUCATION PROGRAMS: The faculty member will be granted release from some teaching responsibilities to engage in activities associated with the coordination, curriculum development, learning outcomes assessment and promotion of the Federal Financial Management courses and programs in the Government Training and Professional Development Division, as well as any assigned continuing education courses and programs. The faculty member will ensure that all applicable accreditation requirements are met and promote awareness of and participation in related courses and programs in the DC Metropolitan area.

Qualifications:

Master’s in accountancy or business administration with accounting concentration. Candidates with a CPA will be viewed favorably.

- Full-time employment experience in accounting or finance in the federal government.

- Minimum three years experience teaching financial and managerial accounting at the college level (introductory and/or intermediate accounting courses).

- Ability to use computers, accounting applications, and electronic spreadsheets as instructional tools.

- Experience in working with students from diverse cultural, ethnic, socioeconomic, academic, and disability backgrounds.

- Current involvement with the business community; membership in professional organizations.

- Knowledge of and experience in using student learning outcomes to promote student learning.

- Experience in online instruction a plus.
